Old House Tales
Welcome to tales of two old houses
told in pictures.
"Them old homes got allotta problems," I heard a plumber once say.
Most owners of old homes would agree, but might add that in the end it's worth it. That special convergence of architecture, enduring craft and history has tremendous value. While age can play a role in the deterioration of a home, ironically the culprits I have come across are subsequent remodels!
These late twentieth century "repairs" are by far the most vicious old house killers, not the ravages of time.
And so we come to two photographic tales of the consequences of shoddy flashing, of water damage, of rot and redemption. If you have stomach for it, click below and learn the right way to treat a grand old lady.
Warning: The following galleries contain explicit photos of gorgeous old ladies being cut up and put back together!
